Summer School Program at McAdams Academy
Who:
Students in need of additional high school credits.
When & Where:
Student will be able to enroll in any of four summer school sessions. Each session will be for a half day for 5 weeks, at McAdams Academy. Morning sessions will be held from 8:00 am to 11:00 am and afternoon sessions from Noon to 3:00 pm. The student will work towards one credit each 6 weeks.
Session 1 will be held from May 26-June 26 with the AM or PM time.
Session 2 will be held from June 29-July 31 with the AM or PM time.
If a student should enroll for both sessions in a day, a lunch will be provided.
Cost:
This service is not presently funded by a grant, so McAdams will charge a fee for each session. Families may provide proof of income or a letter of free and reduced lunch program eligibility, in order to qualify for a sliding fee scale. Original fee per 5-week session is $200. For an additional fee, McAdams staff will provide transportation within the Wichita city limits.
Why:
The benefits of this time include a low teacher to student ratio with a staff member who can tutor students and keep them on task towards earning transferable high school credits. Students will have a structured and productive learning environment to be in, rather than being in unsupervised settings. Staff will continually work to strengthen student academic, social, emotional, and behavioral skill sets.
